The electric energy is the indispensable energy of the society nowdays. It plays a very importantrole in today’s manufacturing and living. However, with the widely using of the power electronicsequipments in recent years, problems of the harmonics brought by the non-linear loads are gettingmore and more serious. Active power filter (APF) is one of the advance schemes to improve thepower quality of power systems. It has the advantages of good compensating effects and flexibleconfigurations so that it is a hot spot in the fields of power quality regulating. This paper firstly describes the theoretical basis of the active filters and a kind of control strategyis selected as the main strategy of the paper. Then focusing on the shoot-through phenomenon andreliability problems of the conventional phase-leg based active power filter, a novel interleaved buckcircuit cell is studied. The interleaved buck cell is the reconstructing of the conventional phase-leg.The two power cells have the inherent consistency in the area of circuit functions. The switchingstrategy of the interleaved buck cell is deeply studied in this paper and a reasonable switching strategyis found. The simulation is given to verify the analysis. An interleaved buck cell based full-bridge APF is studied in this paper, of which thecharacteristics are no “shoot-through” phenomenon, high reliability, no dead-time and goodcompensation performance. The operation principle is analyzed and control strategy is studied. Aprototype with capacity of2kVA is developed for the verification of the feasibility of the interleavedbuck full-bridge APF.The harmonic problems in the aeronautic power systems are also studied. This is proposes toapply the interleaved buck active power filter to the aeronautic power systems, which can not onlymeet the high reliability requirements of the aeronautic applications, but also achieve the harmonicdemands of the aircraft grids. A3kVA three-phase four-wire aeronautic interleaved buck activepower filter is designed and tested in the laboratory. The results show that the interleaved buck activepower filter can eliminate the harmonics of the aeronatic power systems effectively.
