The development of Internet of Things (IoT) is effectively promoted with thereduction of hardware cost, the development of embedded technology and the rise ofglobal networks. The IoT will play an important role in all areas and aspects of societyand life in the future. At present, many national governments, enterprises and researchinstitutions are researching the IoT. One key part of IoT development and application isto provide search service for physical entities, which helps the consumers get and makeuse of the information effectively after mining from a mass of dynamic physical entities.The entity search in this paper is based on Web of Things (WoT), in order to help solvethe problem of IoT physical entity search. The WoT is about re-using the Web standardsto integrate real world and the information, to share data seamlessly between practicalthings.Firstly, the composition of the WoT entity is analyzed, and the informationdescription based on microdata and the related technology of modern search engine areintroduced. The point that WoT entity is an abstraction of physical entity is figured out.The microdata description gives the original information semantic description, whichhelps enhance the ability of information identification and management.Secondly, a representation framework of WoT entity is proposed, based on whichthe WoT entity information is described with microdata. A website for WoT entitydescription webpages storage is established. A search engine is designed andimplemented to search entity information described with microdata. The WoT entityrepresentation framework contains entity model, resource model and service model. Thedetail description of WoT entity attributes is made of microdata. The WoT entity searchengine supports acquisition, analysis, indexing and retrieval of entity descriptionwebpages, and a prediction method of dynamic attribute values is proposed.Finally, the information of entity description webpages from the WoT entitywebsite described with microdata is recognized and analyzed by existing search enginesstructure tools. This paper tests the search engine. The entity description webpages fromthe entity website is indexed, the information of entity is searched by the search enginewith key words, and the rightness of results and the status of dynamic attributesprediction are checked. And the test compares the entity search engine with generalsearch engines in indexing and keyword retrieval.
