The resolution of aperture synthesis radiometer (ASR) is improved with aperturesynthesis technology in radio astronomy field. However, the improved resolution of ASRbases on expanding the antenna array and then the complexity of ASR is greatly increased.A massive amount of data generated by the system needs more complex signal processingstructure. Therefore, it is in need of new technologies to overcome the above dilemma. The purpose of super-synthetic radiometer (SSR) studied in this paper is to use a smallerantenna array to achieve high-resolution and reduce the microwave radiometer systemcomplexity. The principle and imaging performance of the one-dimensional and two-dimensionalSSR are presented in this article. SSR techniques get high-resolution image by takingadvantage of the relative motion between the radiometer system and test scene. And thenanalysis the spatial frequency of antenna array of one-dimensional and two-dimensionalSSR, and design new array type to overcome their own shortcomings and improve theimaging performance. Followed by the introduction of T-type, Y-type array as supersynthetic aperture radiometer antenna array in SSR,T-array, Y-type array is re-designed tomake it more suitable for SSR. Simulation results show that the new array can achievebetter imaging performance. This article provides theoretical support for the developmentand application of SSR.
