The programming of image files is an important issue during the developing and production process of an embedded system. And the programming methods directly affects the efficiency of the development and production of embedded devices. Many embedded devices manufacturers follow the programming methods provided by embedded development board even in production process, so the production efficiency is usually low.Focusing on special requirements for the image file programming on the embedded product line, based on priming characteristics of the embedded processor IROM, this thesis probes a convenient programming design of embedded image file in an embedded system based on IROM booting. This design implemented "one-key-programming method" of image files, that is. the programming of all the image files will completed automatically after the "one-key-programming" menu item is selected or the command is executed. On the other hand, this design also realized "automatic-programming method" of image files—while the embedded system is powerd up, the system will read the image files and complete the programming of all these files automatically.The main research content and results are as follows:1. expounded the development status of embedded systems as well as the underlying theory of Bootloader providing programming functions; did a detailed analysis to the IROM booting mode of embedded processors;2. studied the embedded systems image file programming, analyzed the current programming mechanism of the image file of embedded systems, proposed the concept of "self-programming" and "proxy-programming" concept, did a detailed comparison between the various current "self-programming" programming methods: 3. designed the convenient programming method of embedded system image file based on IROM booting, and realized two convenient programming methods,"one-key-programming" and "automatic-programming", on embedded system based on S3C6410and U-Boot, using SD card as the booting device of IROM booting, and finally verified the two methods.Experimentations has proved that the image file programming method "one-key-programming" and "automatic-programming" implemented in this paper, has the main features:easy to operate, saving time, high speed and low cost, as long as press one key or automatically can be done all image file programming. Especially "automatic-programming" is suitable for the mass production stage of embedded devices.
