In the steel production, production management has become an importantprocess for enterprises to make full use of resources. Used a specific question of theactual production process of iron and steel enterprises to explore the factors which isaffecting the efficiency of enterprises, take the non-commissioned slab which not onlyaffect the completion of the contract but also increase the inventory costs for example,through the following steps to solve the instance and to prove the value of the SASdata mining technology in steel production management.1. Builded a data mining model for the problem faced to the actual steelproduction.Selected association rules based on the analysis of data mining architecture anddata minied all models as this article’s data mining model; Analyzed the kinds of datamining tools and choosed the most powerful SAS software; Established the SASassociation rules to provide the platform for data mining.2. Constructed the data mining platform in the environment of the real data.Combined with my practical work in an iron and steel enterprises, drawed on theknowledge of building a Enterprise-class database and builded the data mart for steelproduction management by using the SAS software, which provided a platform for thebelow data mining.3. Data minied on the mining platform, found the key factors that affect instancesof the problem.Based on the above mining tools and mining platform, analyzed the problem ofthe decline in the rate of completion due to various non-commissioned as thecase,through the reasonable parameter configuration, got the effective associationrules between commissioned reason.4. Through visual display, found solutions to improve instance.The mining results were presented to the user throug the graphical visualizationsoftware which provided by SAS, used the derived rules by analyzing the solutions tosolve the question caused by non-commissioned causes,and formed an effectivedecision-making. By analyzing the results of the example, combined with the actualproduction of iron and steel enterprises management, through a true comparison of thedata before and after to prove the value of this work.
