H.264/AVC as a new generation of video coding standards, not only has excellentcompression performance, but also has a good affinity of network, it is widely used in videotelephony, high-definition TV, video conferencing, video surveillance, but because it uses alot of new technology, computational complexity is high, so the most complex andtime-consuming exercise estimation algorithm is optimized in H.264/AVC movement,making the amount of calculation of H.264motion estimation process reduced and motionestimation shortened。OMAP platform is an ARM+DSP dual-core platform which T1company designed specifically to meet the needs in the area of audio and videocommunication, and therefore applied to the H.264video codec platform has a value can notbe ignored.Firstly, starting from the basics of video encoding, the text makes a brief introduction tothe structure and principle of the video encoding, and an analyses of the key technology ofvideo codec, then a detailed analysis of the most complex and most time-consuming motionestimation algorithm principle and the matching criteria in H.264, and an analysis of thesearch process in three-step search algorithm, the full search algorithm, the diamond searchalgorithm and hexagonal search algorithm, and finally makes analysis and comparison of theadvantages and disadvantages on the use of these classic search algorithm by a range ofexperiments.Then the text makes an adequate research of the UMHexagonS algorithm in latest searchperformance motion estimation, and explains the search process of the algorithm, then makesimprovement and innovation on the basis of this in-depth study and UMHexagonS algorithmfrom the original searching point, the threshold judgment, cross cruciform search,multi-layered hexagonal grid search, iterative the hexagon search strategy, making theoptimized algorithm VC++6.0as development platform in five different motioncharacteristics of the video sequence the H.264/AVC official reference software JM8.6of onsimulation, simulation results show that the improved algorithm has some advantagescompared with the full search algorithm and the original algorithm, improved algorithm toguarantee video quality is essentially the same premise, greatly reducing the amount ofcomputation of the H.264motion estimation process, reducing motion estimation time,improving the encoding speed.In addition,combined with the video coding algorithm,the author tries to do a research onthe latest multimedia platform OMAP3530which was newly developed by TI company.Based upon setting up development environment on the platform of OMAP3530and choosingX264as transplating code,the anthor aims to make a preliminary transplantation on OMAP3530platform after modification algorithm X264on PC,and to make further analysisand explantation on some worth noting problems which the video compression coding maydeal with in the process of implementation on the platform OMAP3530.
