With the fast development of China’s economic and people’s living standards, themethod of communication and information receiving is changing from recorder, TV tocomputer. And the network is becoming increasingly popular and even has been themain platform of learning. In this trend, the distance education has come into being.People need to access not only earning materials from the remote education platform,but also to communicate with teachers in order to solve the problems. At present, thedistance education system is relatively simple and its three main ways is e-mail,keyword query and online discussion. None of these ways are convenient and feasible.For example, query through e-mail cannot get answer in a timely manner, while onlinediscussion requires the presence of teachers and students at the same time, and thekeyword query does not fit to students who have weak keyword extraction whichstudents usually need to filter the results. Therefore, to solve the drawbacks of distanceeducation, we should adopt new technologies to create a better learning platform.Intelligent question answering system is strongly recommended as the networklearning platform. After the analysis of domestic intelligent question answering system,we found the drawbacks of intelligent question answering system that lack ofconsideration of the user’s interactive experience in the design process. So we use anemerging technology-AJAX technology to enhance the functionality of the intelligentquestion answering system greatly and will give users the comfortable interactiveexperience. ASP.NET AJAX framework from Microsoft is the most complete andpowerful package of AJAX technology. We will build an intelligent question answeringsystem based on AJAX.The intelligent question answering system includes seven parts: login module,natural language questioning module, Keywords questioning module, informationbrowsing module, answer and comment module, Admin module, and user module. Wedesign the system in accordance with the following six stages: the analysis ofrequirements, design of conceptual model, design of logical structure, design of physical structure, implementation of database, database operation and maintenance.Finally, the test and evaluation of system performance and operability were made byinternal testing and user testing. From the feedback from students and teachers whoparticipate in the system test, we make the conclusion that the system basically have themaneuverability, the ease of use, the almost fully function and ease of teach. And thesystem will help teachers to teach and help students to learn.My study generally divided into six chapters. The chapter one summarized thecurrent situation and research of intelligent question answering system. The chapter twowas about the related technologies applied to the system. The chapter three was aboutthe analysis of system requirements The chapter four discussed the system designprocess The chapter five described the process of system implementation. The chaptersix is the testing and evaluation of the system. And the lat chapter is the summary andoutlook of the system.
