The ETC system is a kind of charging system used one expressway without pullingup which has been used and studied extensively nowadays. The RF Reader on the roadside would charge the car passing by which has a RF Tag on it automatically. The ETCsystem would have a better passing speed compared with MTC. The speed of the studyabout ETC system in china could not catch up with others. So the research on the RFpart of RF Reader is meaningful.All aspects of our daily lives have been informationalized nowadays. When we talkabout a car, we want to know not only about it’s license but also about who own it,when and how or so. So much information would be a challenge for the velocity of thesystem. However, according to GB/T20851which had been released in2007, the requeston the velocity of ETC system is1Mbps.In this paper, I would design a system whichwould communicate in speed of2Mbps by using the transceiver ML5805which is madeby RFMD.This paper will introduce readers what is ETC system and the importance of doingresearch on it in the very beginning. Chapter2will show you the frame of the ETCsystem and ETC’s origin. Chapter3will tell readers how i design the RF part of RFReaders including how to choose Transceiver, the analysis of TX/RX chain,drawing thescheme and layout and finishing the RF design in the end. Chapter4introduce readershow i do the design and simulation of the antenna. The entire system requires theuniform radiation response in the course of the work within the coverage area, so we usea circularly polarized antenna design. In order to make the antenna and the RF boardconformal, this antenna would be designed by micro strip. In addition, the circularpolarization micro strip antenna would be good in low profile, light weight, small size,etc.
