For a long time, Time Difference Of Arriva(lTDOA)estimation has always been ahot topic in the field of signal processing. As we all know, TDOA is a basic parameter inpassive location technology. Its working principle is to locate the radiant point bymeasuring the time difference from the radiant point to different receivers It isconvenient for electronic jamming and fire hitting after locating the radiant point suchas enemy’s radar, communication equipment. Therefore, passive TDOA locationtechnique has always been a valuable research in the field of electronic reconnaissance.It also becomes an important content of modern electronic warfare.This dissertation focuses on the method and engineering realization of the TDOAestimation. The main work is shown as follows.1. This dissertation researches a variety of high precision TDOA estimationmethods which are all based on cross-correlation function. On that basis, it also analysesthe characteristics and relations between those methods. Interpolation, fitting, andwindow, all these methods can be used to improve the accuracy of TDOA estimation.2. The system architecture of TDOA estimation which is based on FPGA isdesigned completely. According to the characteristics of FPGA parallel processing, wedesign a parallel time domain cross-correlation structure to and improve thecross-correlation interpolation function method FPGA simulation is also been verifiedexactly in the structure. According to the result of FPGA simulation, some suggestionswill be given exactly, after analyzing the error and its reasons in detail.3. Based on the architecture of system, a lot of modules such as the module ofsignal detection, the module of TDOA estimation and the module of frequencyestimation are all designed completely. Above modules are simulated by simulationsoftware. The result demonstrates the function and capability of modules which are alldesigned successfully. 4. According to the existed hardware platform, TDOA estimation program isdebugged completely. The result is tested and verified successfully.
