Distributed Video Coding (DVC) is a new paradigm for video compression. Comparedwith traditional video coding, DVC is a radical departure. When channel coding, e.g. Turbocodes is applied to, DVC has the characteristic of simple encoding, as well as gooderror-resilient performance. The quality of side information significantly influences thecoding performance in DVC scheme. The more accurate the side information is, the higherthe quality of reconstructed frames is and the lower the DVC rate is.This paper firstly implements the DVC system based on Turbo codes. Then the paperfocuses on the research of multiple side information refinement methods of Wyner-Ziv coding. The main work and achievements are as follows:1、This paper systematically expounds the basic principles and key technologies ofdistributed video coding (DVC), and then implements the DCT-Domain DVC system basedon turbo codec. The method of multiple side information is discussed.2、 Iterative side information refinement methods which make use of additionalinformation from partial decoded Wyner-Ziv (WZ) frame can iteratively improve RDperformance by utilizing motion compensation method. Experimental results show that theproposed strategy is better in both side information and RD performance.3、 According to the characteristics of multiple distributed frame iterative sideinformation generation, some methods are discussed: subpixel interpolation, weightedcorrelation index, spatial motion smoothing. Experiments show that SI quality and RDperformance have better gains for various quality of SI.
