With the rapidly development of wireless communication system, the roles ofharmonic manipulation PAs and broadband PAs which are widely used, are becomingmore and more important. This paper majors mainly on the design and fabrication of2.85GHz harmonic manipulation PA and4-6GHz broadband PA, which aresummarized as follow:Firstly, this paper introduces basic theory of class F PA, and points out that it isinfeasible in practice. This paper puts forward some ideal by modifying the way of loadpull and the topology of harmonic manipulation circuit in consideration of theimpedance and matching circuit of transistor respectively. After simulation in EDAtools and tuning, a high efficiency harmonic manipulation PA was completed, with amaximum PAE of82.2%, when output power was39.91dBm. With the improvement ofdesign procedures, it is helpful in the field of enhancing working efficiency, and savingdesign and tuning time and the area of circuit board.Secondly, this paper studies the key points of designing broadband PA, and thenfabricates a4-6GHz broadband PA with a new band-pass matching circuit. Theband-pass matching circuit has several advantages. For example: micro-strip line issynthesized directly rather than transformed from lumped elements, which reduces theerror introduced by the transformation. The role of lumped elements is just short toground rather than matching, which reduces the error of matching and tuning work.Thirdly, this paper not only thinks highly of basic theories, but also emphasizesengineering practice in the process of designing and fabricating PA, such as the use oflumped elements. In RF frequency, especially microwave frequency, the performance ofreactance elements is contrary with itself, which engineers must pay more attention to.The two experiments prove that it is feasible by adapting the design method andskill in this paper.
