As the wide range of uses and application prospects in the marine communications andmarine resources exploration, acoustic positioning technology has become a major researchdirection on concern marine sector. With the difference of acoustic positioning technologywhich is widely studied by measuring the time delay difference or the phase difference, thepaper presents a new method based on the Doppler Effect, which can achieve positioning ofthe underwater targets by measuring the frequency of the signal received by the primitiveswhich is from the underwater target acoustic beacon. In this method, we will construct threeorthogonal rotary disks, when positioning, the signal transmitter of the underwater target willemit a specific frequency acoustic signal, and then the signal receivers of the three orthogonalrotary disks can receive the acoustic signal, the signal processor of the acoustic positioningsystem can process the frequency of the received acoustic signals, and then calculate theposition of the underwater target, thereby completing the location of the underwater target.For the works of this acoustic positioning system, this paper has carried out its theoreticalderivation, analysis and computer simulation. The main tasks are as follow:(1) Analyze the principle of underwater target positioning based on the Doppler Effectand give the positioning equation, and last, propose the underwater target positioning systembased on the Doppler Effect;(2) Propose the principle of underwater target positioning system in a single plane basedon the Doppler Effect and give its theoretical derivation and analysis, through the verificationand theoretical simulation, this paper vivificate the validity of the underwater targetpositioning system in a single plane based on the Doppler Effect;(3) Propose the principle of underwater target positioning system in orthogonalmulti-plane based on the Doppler Effect and give the solutions of underwater targetpositioning system in orthogonal multi-plane.
