Since the location of the nodes and monitored events in Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN) is of critical importance to their monitoring activities, how to obtain the accuratelocalization information of sensor nodes has become t afocus of attentions. It isobviously that the research of practicality and improving of technical performance forsensor networks has important theoretical significance and application value, since thetechnology of wireless sensor networks becomes more and more mature and itsapplications will be wider and wider in the future. It is necessary to provide three-dimensional (3D) position information of nodes, because nodes in wireless sensor network often in3D environments. With the purposeof improving the positioning accuracy and on the basis of2D localization, three3Dlocalization algorithms are studied. In this paper, the2D Chan localization algorithm is extended to3D network, andwe analyze the main factors which impact localization precision. In order to furtherimprove the stability and precision of the algorithm, a3D BFGS quasi-Newton hybridlocalization algorithm based on TDOA and GROA is proposed by introducing the BFGSquasi-Newton method. The simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm canbe provided high stability and positioning accuracyin the same conditions. Contrary tothe actual situation, we put forward a new3D positioning method based on TDOA andGROA under the circumstances of nodes existing error, and the CRLB boundary of thelocalization algorithm is derived. The simulation results show that the proposedalgorithm can still obtain CRLB bound and the positioning method is effective.
