In the iteration block function, the diffusion layer is one of the most important structureto realizing the function of diffusion for cryptosystem, and it plays a crucial role in thesecurity of cryptographic function. Based on the main characters of diffus ion layer,This paper has researched the problem about design method and application ofdiffusion layer.First, we summarized the characters of the typical diffusion layers and mathematicalprincipals for designing diffusion layer. And then,based on these points, we researchedthe design principal of recursive diffusion layer. we put forward a arithmetic to get thecoefficient of this structure and gave the results of simulation experiment.Then, after researching the hardware implementationof AES’s diffusion layer, we gotthe mathematical relation between diffusion matrix and hardware implementation.From it we made a further research on optimal design of diffusion matrix.At last,we used the congruent matrix and involutory matrix to improve the des ignscheme. This improved scheme would help for hardware implementation of diffusionlayer.
