With the internet penetrated into the family life, people require more demands about home equipments. People expect to realize linkage alarm and remote monitoring of security related information appliances. But there are kinds of protocols of equipment communication, and these standards are defined by different manufacturers or organizations which can not compatible with each other. This caused difficult problems in service collaboration and resource sharing among different equipments. How to break the information barriers caused by heterogeneous standards is an urgent problem to be solved.In order to solve the above problems, people have tried a lot of methods, but each of them has some defects. This paper tries to use unified method to describe different devices, and choose specific applications according to actual situation. This paper mainly researches the following aspects:how to establish the service description model which is applicable to kinds of protocols; propose the model in the field of home security and describe the design and architecture of each module; how to implement and verify the model. Specific research including:1. Mainstream family network protocols are analyzed in detail, after weigh the pros and cons, XML is chose to norm the description file, UPnP is chose to design verify the modal.2. Propose a service description model which use XML Schema technology. The architecture and implementation of the model are described in detail. The model focus on the family security field, it provides the basic information, common properties, related services and operations of the model, we can realize heterogeneous protocol conversion without having to provide additional information, this not only convenient for protocol conversion, but also expanded the use of the model.3. This paper develops all the components in the description model, including the generator of equipment services description, the UPnP Device and the UPnP Control Point. People use the service description creator to get service description document which correspond with given protocol. The whole process only need some simple operation on the interface, this creator greatly reduces the difficulty of the service description document generation. Experimental results validate that devices which set up by generated description document can be controlled by standard UPnP Control Point. Furthermore, the feasibility and suitability of the model is also verified.
