With the huge development of computer technology and its widespread application in education field, the positive role of computer in education and teaching arouses great attention around the whole society. Information technology, especially the use of computer technology and network technology in teaching practice, offers a great breakthrough for teaching reform as well as an important technical approach so as to build a new teaching environment of studying theories. Traditional computing method was more often than not faced with inadequate teaching contents and hours as well as the problem that students couldn’t acquire what they learned easily and completely, and as for the methods of solving linear equations, it is no exception. As far as this is concerned, the paper presents a kind of teaching aid to solve the linear equations by combining traditional methods and modern computer technology. The several main tasks I have dealt with are as follows:1. It firstly tells of the present researching state of CAI. It describes the concept of CAI and mainly analyses the advantages of CAI. And then it discusses the functions of CAI and summarizes it concludes some chracteristics of CAI. In the end it analyses prospect of CAI.2. It makes a research on the necessity of CAI of solving linear equations. To start with, it determines on the development of foreground of CAI through Visual Basic and moreover in the way of "event-driven". In addition, it describes the design of database of CAI. CAI is designed and realized through Access2003which is quite suitable for development with the advantage of being concise and being easily maintained.3. It implemented CAI based on the research on the necessity and learners just put the direct methods and iterative methods of solving linear equations into CAI. There are detailed introductions to each method and plenty of exercises in CAI so that teachers are able to refer to them in teaching and students can autonomous learning in their spare time.
