With the development of mobile technology, mobile phone has gradually turned into an indispensable digital media, which can retrieve all kinds of information, from a device that merely communicates. Nowadays, one of the most common features of mobile technology is location management technology, which is used to track the locations of users, and offers richer services to users based on the richer contexts of the user.Hence, we are motivated to investigate the design of location aware reminders. First, we studied the research concerning with location aware systems and personal task management. And we found that the method adopted by tradition location aware reminders is simply based on the Euclidean distance of the task location and the user’s current location, however, this method cannot effectively detect the user’s current context. On the other hand, the richer contexts can be achieved with location aware technology. Therefore, we proposed a novel method to deliver location aware reminders, which is combined with route prediction, called iReminder. We conducted the design of iReminder using the participatory design method, and we implemented the client of the system on Java ME platform and its corresponding server. The basic concept of iReminder is to deliver reminding messages based on the route one might take. To investigate the performance of iReminder and how users interact with iReminder, we also designed a traditional location aware reminder using the Euclidean method, and conducted a contrast experiment. The experimental results show that iReminder outperforms traditional location aware reminder, because it delivers reminding messages more appropriately. The method we proposed can offer users better reminding experiences.
