Micro-motion phenomenon is commonly existed in nature. It describes themotion details of the moving object. It caused great attention, especially in the fieldof target detection and radar recognition. It has become a hot frontiers problem, andprovided a new approach for target state estimation and identification. The main contents researched in this paper are as follows:1. The radar echo models of oscillation and rotary for point target are built, themethod of time frequency analysis is used in target micro-motion extraction. Threeclasses of TF analysis method are introduced: linear time frequency analysismethod——short time Fourier transform; low order time frequency analysis basedon Wigner distribution——Wigner-Ville distribution, pseudo WVD; high order timefrequency analysis——polynomial WVD, L-WVD, S-WVD, among this methods, high order time frequency analysis is detailed study. The time frequency analysismethod property is proposed by using them in single component andmulti-components simulation.2. The target micro-motion extraction method based on Empirical ModeDecomposition (EMD) is presented. The theory of EMD is introduced, the EMDmethod is applied in micro-motion feature extraction of radar return signal model, the parameter estimation by using spectrogram peak estimation is proposed;3. The actual measurement data of radar ground target is used intomicro-motion feature extraction. The time frequency method is firstly adopted, theextraction effects for different time frequency methods are detailed compared; thenEMD method is put into use, the effect for EMD is analyzed. The micro-motion extraction effect is compared by using different timefrequency analysis method; the characteristic decomposition is proposed by usingEMD method; the simulation analysis for target recognition presented by theexperiment data.
