Fiber laser is a kind of laser used rare-earth doped glass fiber as gain medium. It iswidely used in optical fiber communication field, radar range field and fiber sensing fieldfor its advantages of small volume, high brightness and good beam quality compared toany other kind of lasers. Narrow linewidth fiber laser, in particular, with its low noise,high stability and other characteristics, becomes more and more popular in a distributedsensing, coherent optical communication and other fields. Therefore, based on the currentresearch status of domestic and foreign fiber laser, this paper present a ring fiber laser withBragg grating F-P cavity, the main contents include:Firstly, the paper illustrates the principles and conditions of laser and introduces threeessential factors of laser: active medium, pump source and resonant cavity. It gives a briefaccount of how to select pump source and analyzes structure properties and principles ofresonant cavity.Secondly, based on the transmission spectrum formula of the fiber grating, thetransmission spectrum formula of fiber grating interferometer is deduced. Then itstransmission characteristics are studied and analyzed. The factors are gained that affect thetransmission characteristics of the fiber grating Fabry-Perot interferometer.Subsequently, based on the theory of the fiber grating Fabry-Perot interferometer, theanalytical expressions of the threshold power, output power and the slope efficiency of thelaser are derived. And the combination of the simulation analysis of the output power ofthe laser cavity length and change the length of the fiber grating performance areproduced.At last, an experimental systematically of the ring cavity fiber grating lasers isdesigned and built. Then, the experiment on the ring cavity fiber grating lasers based onthe Fiber Bragg grating Fabry-Perot interferometer is carried out. The experiment verifiesthe correctness of the theoretical analysis and the design in this paper.
