Power cable transmission network, as an effective means of supporting powernetwork to efficiently production, scheduling and running, would significantly impactthe security of power system operation when it should quit because of some failure. So analyzing its vulnerability and optimizing the network can effectively enhance thepower cable networks’ ability of resisting failure and improve power system stability. In this paper, based on mathematical modeling of electricity cable networks, Isystematically introduce the method of researching network’s robustness andvulnerability applying employing complex network theoretical knowledge. The aim isto identify vulnerabilities in the network in order to optimize the network and improvethe ability of the network dealing with disasters after network optimizationThis article firstly researches the statistical characteristics of the power cabletransmission network topology’s static parameters employing complex network theoryknowledge, analyze the network model’s inherent robustness and fragility mechanismthrough the comparison to random networks. And then, respectively assess thenetwork’s fault tolerance respond to random failure and frangibility of intentionaldestruction, through the simulation of randomness failure and selective failure of thesites or fiber optic cable in the power cable transmission network. The simulationapply two indicators that is connectivity robustness and network performance functionto respectively evaluate the impact of failure for network connectivity andcommunication efficiency in order to identify vulnerabilities in the network. At last, propose some methods that are hot reserving the station equipment and plus the sidesbased on the point referral number to optimize the network structure. To validate thevalidity of the methods indicated above, we apply one area’s actual operationelectricity cable network in the simulation. Fault simulation analysis shows that thenetwork has a scale-free property, its weak links are the sites with a large number ofconnections or the sites passed by many shortest paths, and it is able to significantlyenhance the ability of the network to withstand the failure by strengthening these sitesand fiber optic cables.
