The assessment of faculty’s teaching workload has been regarded as a very different problem of academies management worldwide because of its complexity.The United States has accumulated a wealth of research and practical experience in the past90years. It is very necessary to systematize these experience and further explore its enlightenment for the reform and improvement of the evaluation of faculty’s teaching workload in our country.This thesis picks The Delaware Study as a case which is the representative of the United States’research and practice to conduct a deep research. We find it has great features on the unique data definition, complete data classification, multi-dimensional data analysis and extensive data use. What’s more, we can get a lot of meaningful enlightenment form it.In order to further reform and improve the teaching workload assessment work, the paper put forward the following recommendations on the basis of the comparative analysis of our country’s current situation and problems:take the credit hours as the units of measurement; improve data classification system; conduct more empirical researches and develop public databases; expand the use of faculty’s teaching workload data.
