| Mathematics is the study of the concepts of quantity, structure, change and space models, which benefits the abstraction learning ability and logical reasoning ability for objective phenomena. Primary Mathematics is a foundation course during the compulsory education. And also it is an important stage for the initial development of students’ logical reasoning ability. As a kind of high quality and convenient resource presented in textbook, which is the main carrier of education implementation, image expression can both help stimulate students’ interest in learning, abstract thinking and innovative thinking, and students’ understanding of the teaching materials to build confidence in learning mathematics. Interpreting pictorial representations help students independently complete the construction of exploration of new knowledge. However, if the image is characterized by improper using, it will disperse the attention of students, increase students’ cognitive load, and induce counterproductive for students’learning outcomes. Therefore, the study of elementary school mathematics textbooks designed to characterize the image is very important. Teachers should correctly grasp and flexibly use of pictorial representations and carry out teaching materials to improve teaching effectiveness.A new version of compulsory mathematics curriculum standards, which was issued by the Ministry of Education in2011, was implemented from2012. Based on this new standard, a series of textbooks were published by Beijing Normal University Press. As of December2013, published a year (2012edition) and sophomore (2013edition) volumes, a total of four new versions of elementary school mathematics textbooks, textbook version grades three and six are still in the pipeline.Focusing on the Image characterization Design Primary Mathematics textbooks, the research is divided into five parts in this paper,: Firstly, an introduction is made to explain the background, significance, purpose and methods of the study. Research scholars discussed in detail in the image profile characterization aspects of theoretical and practical significance of this study, the definition, the relationship of pictorial representation and visual representation, the write principles of primary and secondary school mathematics textbooks, pictorial representations in mathematics teaching in primary schools advantages, the classification of pictorial representation in the materials, the general principles of image characterization of knowledge. The second part introduces the theoretical basis, including the analysis of visual thinking, the theory of mathematical learning, the capabilities of pictorial representation and the epistemological position of pictorial representation. These theories describe the characterization of the students on the image interpretation process, explain how the scholars of the process of constructing mathematical learning theory, discuss the functions of different types of pictorial representations, analysis the pictorial representation how scientific and rational problem-solving strategies to students Strip, inspire innovative thinking. The third part presents the design and use status analysis of the Beijing Normal University Primary Mathematics textbooks, mainly including the investigation of the status from the design and use of pictorial representations. Quantitative analysis method is used to investigate one to two grades (new version), and three to six grades (old) of twelve elementary mathematics textbook (Beijing Normal University Press), image features, functions, classification and arrangement of the status of the situation. Ten math teachers of Yongcheng four little dragons school, from one to sixth grade are interviewed. Due to the age of one to sophomore too little, can not complete the questionnaire independently, so random sampling from grades three to six, respectively, to select a class, a total of238people participated in the survey. Through surveys of students and teachers of the case interview, teachers and students to understand the application of textbook images, utilization and use of effects. The fourth part is image design strategy characterization studies to characterize the status of the elementary mathematics textbooks (Beijing Normal University). The optimization design principles for elementary school mathematics textbooks pictorial representations, strategies and five application cases are pointed out, based on the image application status survey results. Depending on the different age of the students’ cognitive development and psychological characteristics of different, respectively, from the dominance of the dominant position of teachers and teaching materials departure, the pictorial representation of materials in different grades section presents the feasibility of the design optimization strategy. The final part is the summary and outlook, offering some suggestions of the image characterization design analysis, pointing out the deficiency and future needs of the present study. Combining with the study of this paper, the conclusions of the pictorial representations of materials design are summarized as follows:1, images should be taken more concerning for the practical using;2, teachers should encourage students to use the images to carry out characterization activities;3, image characterization optimization should be payed more attentions;4, teachers should carry out teaching by using the images reasonably;5, modern information technology should be used to establish the integration with textbook rationally. |
