National Matriculation English Test (NMET) is designed to assess whether the test-takersare qualified to enter university for further education. So far, many scholars have done someresearches on the washback of NMET, but not too much has been done on the washback oflistening part of NMET. This paper manages to focus on the washback of the listening test onoral English learning strategy.In order to solve the problems, the author did an investigation among238high schoolstudents form three districts in Shandong Province. Questionnaire, interview, classroomobservation are used in the research. Some statistical procedures such as descriptive analysis,correlation analysis and T-test are used as well.The findings of this study show that the interest of English listening has significantcorrelation with the interest of oral English, and the listening test score has high relation withthe enthusiasm of speaking English, and the listening test score also has high relation withoral English level. Listening test has washback on the using frequency of oral Englishlearning strategy. Cognitive and social strategies are most highly used among the students,and the two are most highly correlated with listening test score. Male students and femalestudents have significant difference in using different strategies. Female students are muchmore frequently in using oral English learning strategy than male students. More than eightypercent of the test-takers hold that the washback of listening test on oral English learningstrategy is more positive than negative.
