As a core concept of calculus, derivative plays an important part in the highschool mathematics, but derivative concept is abstract. Under the premise of notlearning the concept of limit, this paper aims to research teaching derivative conceptfrom the perspective of APOS theory, in order to help students truly understand theessence of derivative concept.APOS theory is a theory with mathematics features based on the constructivetheory. Based on the former study on the APOS theory at home and abroad, this paperaims to analyze the source, meaning and model of the APOS theory, and elaborate theconcept of derivative position in high school mathematics, research the status ofderivative concept of teaching and learning in high school mathematics, in order tofind out the main problems students meet when learning derivative. Based onderivative concept in the process of high school mathematics arrangements and theproblems of students, analyze the feasibility and applicability of APOS theory inteaching derivative concept. In the section of the rate of change and derivative,explore the specific measures at every stage of education and prepare the instructionaldesign of this section, based on the principle of instructional design and the APOStheory.Based on analyzing teaching and learning the derivative and with the help ofAPOS theory, this study aims to analyze the problems students meet and the solutionto deal with these problems, and design a proper learning plan for cognitivedevelopment of students, hoping to give some reference to some teachers.
