School Social Work Intervention Of College Students' Mental Health

Nowadays in Chinese colleges, kinds of serious incidents what caused by mental problems happened frequently, psychological problems have became educators and social parties’focus of attention gradually, especially in recent years, along with the aggravating of college student’s employment pressure, social pressure and so on, under the different kinds of pressures, students’incidents caused by psychological problems showing a trend of growing. Solving the psychological problems of college’s students and improve the level of students’ psychological quality is urgent. Traditional school counseling work plays an irreplaceable role in solving students’ psychological problems, but with the complexity and diversity of students’ psychological problems, and with the student’s own demand for mental health, the traditional school counseling is often not deal with these problems effectively and can’t cater to needs of students. In practical work, simple single psychological counseling model is not enough to deal with students’mental problems. The solving of students psychological problems is not a short-term process, which requires multi-joint collaboration, and it is a process of system construction. School social work is an important part of student services in developed countries and regions, different kinds of problems of students need school social work’s intervention and resolve, school counseling and school social work should work tighter to deal with college students’mental problems. Although the school social work in our country has received a considerable progress in recently years, it’s still wanting in recognition in many colleges and universities due to the limited disciplinary development and other reasons. As a professional occupation to deal with student problems, the school social work has its own advantage which urgently needs to be assimilated into the college student management work in various ways.Considering this, this article will start with the specific situation of student problems and ways to solve the psychological problems of them, and then elaborate on traditional ways to handle psychological problems as well as their deficiencies. Meanwhile, it will also introduce the concept of school social work and analyze the feasibility of the school social work’s intervention in the psychological problems of students and other aspects. After the comparison with previous psychological counseling means, the similarities and differences of the two ways are figured out. In addition, the article proposes the mutual combination of the school social work and psychological counseling in practical work, adopting their advantages to better formulate the psychological health consultation system in colleges and universities. At last, the patterns and handling methods of the school social work should be positively introduced as a way to explore various versions of them in dealing with mental health of college students, thus raising feasible advice to better solve the mental health of college students.
