Study On Development Of Social Work In Underdeveloped Area

Social Work comes from Western countries, however, the development of social work shows a profit-driven tendency when it was introduced to China. Development of social work often focused on the developed cities in developed regions, while in the vast underdeveloped areas, development of social work is not so optimistic. Professional values of social work requires the pursuit of social justice, but the development of social work in China now, seems hard to fit this determined pursuit of its value.Since the21st century, the CPC Central Committee and State Council continue have been trying hard to promote economic and society in poor areas, they also attach great importance to the important role of professional social work and social development in less developed regions. Besides, in order to achieve "equal development of social work services ", the goal, they announced series of documents and policies, which related to the development of social work. All this effort makes it possible to promote the social work career in less developed areas.With the method of action research, this study has a clue of four part, plan, action, observation and reflection which action research contains. Through the context and logic in an underdeveloped country where we work on the aged people, we intend to work out the feasible path of social work development in underdeveloped area. The practice and reflection from County C, the research in Wanzai and Pingzhai model, we can conclude three paths of the development of social work, the top-bottom path, bottom-top path, and bottom-top aside path.After a carefully comparative analysis of the merits and required resource of the three paths, this study stresses the importance of social work in less developed areas. Besides, bottom-top aside model is the most suitable path to promote social work for the less developed area. Finally, outside force is very important in such area, where social work is expected.
