| With the further research and study in second language acquisition, the significanceand influence evaluation plays on second language teaching cannot be ignored. Evaluation,which adjusts, regulates, and to some extent, manipulates the teaching process, is anindispensable part in English teaching. According to Bloom’s taxonomy, quite a fewscholars suggest that different ways of evaluation may affect teaching activities, such as:guiding teaching procedures, reflecting teaching effectiveness, etc. These years, domesticeducationalists may realize an issue: to have objective evaluation, the evaluators mustcollect all the information and evidence systematically, leading to an overall evaluation atlast. The ways of evaluation in teaching activities thus become more and more diverse.Canada is an immigrant country which also boasts advanced educational resourcesand experience in second language acquisition. English is one major course in most oftheir schools due to the abundance of immigrant students from all over the world in theirschools. From the aspect of evaluation, this paper compares and analyzes ESL in Chinaand Canada (which is taught as second language for immigrants in Canada), finds outprinciples, methodologies and ideas that are different in two countries. It suggests that wemix advantages in both two countries together, and put them into practice in daily Englishteaching. |
