The funeral ceremony is an important part of traditional culture, is a specialcultural phenomenon in human social life. Chinese as "a state of ceremonies", hasalways attached importance to the funeral ceremony, it is the heritage of the longesttime, the national cultural characteristics of the most concentrated, one of the moststable cultural facts in Chinese culture, plays an important role in the whole culturalsystem of Han nationality.Taking the L village in Northern Anhui as the research object, the integrated useof field investigation, subjective and objective, questionnaire survey and literatureresearch methods, showing the funeral form of L village in Northern Anhui rich andits cultural function. These functions include, to the living and dying arepsychological comfort function, maintain social relationships, realize the harmoniousfamily, promote family social status and function, the inheritance concept of life anddeath and life ethics in generational culture educational function.Our study also found that, the funeral ceremony as a social behavior, containsrich social connotation. The funeral ceremony is a ceremony for the deceased, socialisolation. Changed social role and social status of the dead, the living and the deadfrom a funeral ceremony, it is officially confirmed this; funeral ceremony for filial son,is the status promotion ceremony. The dutiful son inherited the past the old socialstatus in the ceremony, to maintain the family and social stability. At the same time,the concept of ghosts and Fengshui beliefs implied ceremony has its connotationspirits worship; folk practice as the funeral ceremony also reflected the spiritualconnotation of rural society.
