Multiculturalism originated in twentieth Century20’s USA, in the70’s in the UK andAustralia, American immigration countries as a kind of cultural policy, then evolvedinto a culture and education, political thought. Research in this thesis are the policyevolution of multicultural education in the uk. Study English in intense internationalcompetition and close cultural exchange, how to maintain its own nationalcharacteristics at the same time draw useful international multicultural factors of thisproblem. This problem is not only the state and the government need to reflect on theissue, but also cultural and educational problems.Britain is a multicultural country a multi-ethnic, multi religious, China also has56ethnic groups and many religious country. Multicultural countries how to mainstreamculture not only to maintain a stable centripetal, while fully respecting the minoritygroups and foreign culture, has a great realistic problem. Facing the increasinglyfierce international competition and international exchanges have becomeincreasingly complex, is a huge challenge for China’s culture and education. How toculture and education can absorb and integration of foreign culture and minorityculture in keeping her mainstream characteristics at the same time, is a very importantproblem.The development of all things follow a gradual development process from scratch,from small to large, the development of multicultural education in British also followthis rule, multicultural education in British policy too. According to the British socialpopulation composition, multiculturalism degree of spread, the British governmentand people’s ideas and action in three aspects, this paper will divide the evolution ofmulticultural education policy for the preparation stage, the initial stage, developmentstage and mature stage four stages.
