The key of basic education reformation is curriculum reform in our country. The mostimportant part of the curriculum reform is classroom teaching. The key of the classroomteaching is the teaching behavior. Teachers’ classroom teaching behavior is a very importantpart of classroom teaching. Whether the classroom teaching behavior is reasonable andeffective or not will have impact on the teaching effect. Also it is the key to decide whetherthe teaching is successful or not.Interaction between teachers and students is an essential part of the teaching-learningprocess. Many linguists and educationists have focused on the research on interaction patterns.Researches on classroom interaction are usually carried out in colleges in China. Most ofthem focus on discourse analysis. Analysis of high school classroom interaction in aquantitatively way is not sufficient. The author has used quantitative way to analyze theinteraction in English reading class of high school. The subjects of the study are four teachers from Anyi Middle School and YunchengMiddle School. Both schools are located in Shanxi Yuncheng. Anyi Middle School is acountryside school and the other one is a key school in Yuncheng City. The author chooses the four classes which are in the same grade and use same teachingmaterials. Teacher A and Teacher C are from Yuncheng Middle School. Teacher B andTeacher D are from Anyi Middle School. Teacher A and D use the multimedia teaching, andTeacher B and C do not use the multimedia teaching. The author mainly focuses on theTeacher Talk and Students Talk. The research concentrates on the interaction situation in highschool English reading class. The study’s purpose is to answer the following questions: who is the center of the class, the teacher or the students according to the amount of Teacher Talk and Students Talk; howdose the teacher influence the students on the basis of Interaction Analysis System (directly vs. indirectly)? The author observes and analyzes the teaching behaviors and interactions betweenteacher and students in the normal class by watching teaching videos carefully. The authorwill analyze the teaching behaviors and students behaviors by using Guxiaoqing’s InteractionAnalysis System. Through the statistics and data analysis, it is concluded that these fourclasses which the author observed were teacher-centered classes. Mostly, the teacher talked alot and she dominated the class directly. The teacher talk in urban area is lower than thecountryside area. The teachers directly influenced their students. Most of classes are negativeclasses. Students may be not motivated to learn or think by themselves. The students arepassive during the whole class. The teacher did not focus her attention on the students’progress. The author hopes the research results can help high school English teaching. The research may help high school teachers to adapt the new curriculum reform in Chinaand help them change from teacher-centered teaching to student-centered one.
