In2012, Ⅰ was fortunate to participate in the National Philosophy and Social major issue," the compare of Chinese and foreign elementary school mathematics textbooks’ difficulty," hosted by Professor Song Naiqing of Southwest University. I and My mentor are mainly responsible for one of the sub-project, Chinese and Japanese elementary school mathematics textbooks’difficulty. The main task of the issue is comparing the difficulty between Chinese elementary school mathematics textbooks and American Japanese, German, British,Russian, Australian, Singaporean, South Korea’s ones. Because of the tight schedule, the task is heavy, the research group focused on comparing the degree of difficulty between Chinese and various countries fourth grade textbooks. In the research process involved in the subject, I think it is significative to compare the degree of difficulty about a field, and find the graphics, quantity and measuring in the Japanese elementary school mathematics textbooks are very distinctive. China can learn from and draw on the useful features about these fields. Difficulty and feature about mathematics textbook are important parts of textbook-quality. Therefore, this study select "Graphics and geometric " field in the Sino-Japanese representative elementary mathematics textbook as the research object, and compare the difficulty of "Graphics and geometric" field. In this study, firstly I read carefully elementary school mathematics textbooks of Chinese PEP and elementary school mathematics textbooks of Japan Kai Lin Hall, and then tease out separately China-Japan "Graphics and Geometry" knowledge points; Then consulting China "Compulsory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standards "and the Japanese modern elementary junior high school "mathematics curriculum standards", I determine the level of content requirement of every knowledge point; then consulting textbooks,1determine the level of content presentation of every knowledge point. Consulting textbooks,1determine the level of exercises and the background of exercises. At last, according to the course difficulty formula developed by the research group and the various data teased out, I separately determine breadth of content, depth of content, difficulty of exercises and total difficulty about PEP and Kai Lin Pavilion "Graphics and Geometry" According to my study,I get the following main conclusions:1. In the aspects of content breadth,Chinese PEP Primary Mathematics "Graphics and Geometry" has68knowledge points, and breadth of content is0.6239; Japanese Kai Lin Hall Primary Mathematics "Graphics and Geometry" has86knowledge points, and breadth of content is0.7748.2. In the aspects of content breadth, for Chinese PEP Primary Mathematics "Graphics and Geometry", the level of content requirement is0.4706, the level of content presentation is0.6225,breadth of content is0.5466. For Japanese Kai Lin Hall Primary Mathematics "Graphics and Geometry", the level of content requirement is0.4922, the level of content presentation is0.6279,breadth of content is0.5601.3. In the aspects of content breadth, Chinese PEP Primary Mathematics "Graphics and Geometry" has a total of487exercises, the level of exercises is0.4490, the background of exercises is0.3854,difficulty of exercises is0.4235. Japanese Kai Lin Hall Primary Mathematics "Graphics and Geometry" has a total of298exercises, the level of exercises is0.4027, the background of exercises is0.3602, difficulty of exercises is0.3857.4. In the aspects of content breadth, the total difficulty of Chinese PEP Primary Mathematics "Graphics and Geometry" is0.5229;the total difficulty of Japanese Kai Lin Hall Primary Mathematics "Graphics and Geometry" is0.5507.By comparing, I find the content of Chinese PEP Primary Mathematics textbook "Graphics and Geometry" is narrow and shallow, The number of exercise is too many and most of exercises are more difficult; the content of Japanese Kai Lin Hall Primary Mathematics textbook "Graphics and Geometry" is broad and deep, The number of exercise is few and most of exercises are easy.5.Chinese PEP "Graphics and Geometry" has the following characteristics:(1) knowledge sector is relatively concentrated (2) the concept of system is relatively strict and complete (3)it pays attention to the "position and direction".6. Japanese Kai Lin Pavilion "Graphics and Geometry" has the following characteristics:(1) through the activities it tells students about the "Graphics and Geometry" knowledge (2) it permeates junior high school geometry knowledge and focuses on cross-linking plane geometry and solid geometry (3) it focuses on the spiral of knowledge. Finally, based on the results of the above study, I give a number of recommendations related amendments of PEP Primary Mathematics textbooks’"Graphics and Geometry":(1)"Graphics and Geometry" of primary and secondary school should be compiled in perfect union;(2) Compiling primary "Graphics and Geometry",we should properly increase the breadth and depth of the content and reduce the number of exercises;(3) Compilation of primary "Graphics and Geometry" should spiral.
