Teachers and books are the main materials in traditional education. As the educationreform deepens, the students’ status and the cultivation of the ability, especially the thinkingability in mathematics, are more and more important. In quality education, students are thesubject, and teachers play a leading role. So teachers should play the guiding role, In order toavoid or reduce the thinking obstacles, and make more efforts to eliminate or weaken thegenerated thinking obstacles.Especially, the students at eight grade are in the key period of thedevelopment of thinking. Therefore, the study of mathematical thinking obstacles of studentsat eight grade has important significance for the effectiveness and pertinence of teaching andlearning in middle school. The paper shows that some students have thinking obstacles in the process of learningmathematics because of the intelligence and knowledge, but most don’t have. In view of thisphenomenon, this paper summarized some of the causes of their thinking obstacles throughcontinuous observation, which includes the emotional factors, lacking of meta cognitivetraining as well as negative thinking. Combined with the characteristics of the students whosedevelopment of thinking is in the key period, this paper put forward some methods toovercome the students thinking obstacles from the training of students’ meta cognitive, thedeepening of the meta cognition, and the cultivating of students’ habit of reflection. Payingattention to reveal the thinking process of students, and encouraging students to come up withmulti-solution to one problem. Teachers should take measures from preparing and teachingbased on the "zone of proximal development" principle, and pay attention to the cultivation ofstudents’ thinking quality. They should also enable the students to form positiveRegular thinking tendency, so that they can improve the ability of mathematical thinking.
