In recent years, issues concerning personality health of adolescents are becoming thefocus of the study of youth problems. According to the age characteristics of adolescents andtheir primary environment of growth, this paper will make a tight link between adolescents’sound personality and ideological and political education in middle school. The education ofadolescent personality health is carried out in ideological and political education throughoutmiddle school, which is necessary to the correction of adolescents’ personality defects, thedevelopment of all-round education and cultivation of qualified talents in modern society.Owing to the shortcomings of the education system, the negative impact of the marketeconomy and problems in ideological and political education in middle school, a variety ofcrises and defects of adolescents’ personality status have emerged. Thus, the education ofadolescents’ personality health has become an important and urgent task in ideological andpolitical education in middle school.According to the objective laws of adolescents’ physical and mental development, thispaper will elaborate the status of contemporary teenagers, analyze the causes of personalitydefects of adolescent, describe the significance of personality education in ideological andpolitical education in secondary school and explore the correct philosophy of shapingadolescents’ personality health as a whole. The paper is divided into four parts:The first part is an introduction to related concepts, an elaboration mainly from theconcept of personality, the concept and standards of healthy personality. The definition ofpersonality varies a lot among the academia. And so far there is still no uniform definition.But from the etymology of personality, many scholars have the same opinion and canbasically reach a consensus. This section will give a specific elaboration of the content ofpersonality from the perspective of Western psychology and Chinese culture respectively.Based on this, the paper will introduce in great detail the five elements that constitutepersonality. The issue of personality is often inseparable from the issue of healthy personality,which is the focus of numerous scholars who have explored the topic. This paper starts fromthe viewpoint of personality psychologists and introduces some personality psychologists’explanation of healthy personality. Then is the implementation of the theory to specific national research, introducing the interpretation of healthy personality of several scholarsfrom the American academia of psychology and psychoanalysis. In order to enrich thetheoretical foundation, an interpretation of Marx’s healthy personality is conducted. Finally,based on the above scholars’ discussion, my understanding of the concept of healthypersonality is obtained, and then the standards of achieving a healthy personality are furtherelaborated.The second part discusses the performance of the youngsters’ unhealthy personality andpolitical education of the importance of character education. About the performance of theyoung people personality unhealthy, four points are listed in total. They are drastic changes inphysical development, mental development disorders uncertain; ideology is simple, emotionalcontrol is weak; less capable of self-awareness, interpersonal skills is low; low moral qualities,lack of the sense of legal concept. Then, the importances of personality education in theideological and political education are discussed in this paper. This section tells therelationship between personality education and political education and on this basis cited theimportance of these two character education in the ideological and political education. Theyare: the ideological and political character education throughout the educational processwhich enrich the content of character education ideological and political education.The third part focuses on the personality education deficiency and the reasons analyzingwithin the high school ideological and political education. This part is based on thepersonality education’s importance in the ideological and political education, which combinedwith the realistic problem, dissected carefully the deficiency of personality education in highschool ideological and political education. According to this I summarized from two aspects.They are insufficient understanding of the personality education and the inadequateimplementation. The problem comes from some related reasons. This thesis analyses thereasons for this. The content can be divided into two parts, one is state from macro level, theother is from micro level. Analyzing from macro level concludes the drawbacks of China’seducation system and negative influence of social change in high school ideological andpolitical education. Analyzing from micro level concludes that the curriculum construction goagainst the personality education, the problems of ways and content in high school ideologicaland political education, the educators’ negative effects, adolescence’s own problems. Part Four is aimed at stating the shaping of adolescents’ healthy personality in how tostrengthen political education in middle schools. Combined with the educational practice inmiddle schools, the personality education in schools’ teaching, teaching management andteaching content has not been emphasized and effect not so clear. Therefore, the personalityshaping in middle schools’ political education is necessary. This part is divided into foursections as the following:The adolescents’ personality shaping is formed with the campus cultural construction inadvance; the adolescents’ personality shaping is formed supported by school’s psychologicalhealthy education; the adolescents’ personality shaping is formed with “human being” at itsbasic ideas; the adolescents’ personality shaping is formed by qualified political educationgroups. To be specific, every point has its own specific contents. The first point includes thecampus’ natural environment; constructing harmonious school interpersonal surroundings;enriching campus’ culture environment and strengthening school spirit construction. Thesecond point includes the emphasis of model of psychological health education and focus onit and the arrangements of various psychological health education activities. The third pointincludes setting up a mainstay of better political education group and realizing theschematization and modernization of middle schools’ political education work. The fourthpoint includes the full-scale development of human beings, realizing the combination betweencognition emotion education; realizing the melting of knowledge and values, reaching theachievement of self-goal and self-values, highlighting the development of virtues andqualities.
