| In the1960s and1970s, because of moral relativism, values clarification model prevalent in American schools educational practice, making a sharp deterioration in adolescent morality, in order to reverse the current situation of moral education in American schools, the new character education came into being. The new character education through the criticism and reflection of the school moral education practice and based on the traditional character education and the integration of advantages of other moral model factions, forming a strong moral practical and operational mode. This approach got a broad support of the U.S. government and the community, and quickly carried out in American schools. Although the current moral education in primary schools made a series of achievements in our country, but there are many problems. This paper attempts to study the new U.S. character education, drawing on the successful experience, exploring the moral education in primary schools. Paper is divided into four parts:The first part, mainly introduces the purpose and significance of the topic of this article, and the present situation of the new character education and the method of this study.The second part, explains the underlying concept of the new character education, and analyzes the performance and causes of the new character education. The foundation of the new character education including the Aristotelian virtue ethics and the communalism.The fourth part, describes the main contents of the new character education, educational methods and formal courses and informal curriculum, testing principles.The fifth part, evaluate the new character education and moral education in primary schools in our country, draw inspiration for moral education in primary schools. Including scientific view and traditional heritage of moral education, adhere to the values of mainstream education and guidance, establish a scientific concept of the student body and teacher-led concept, focusing on exploring hidden resources together to build moral education network, and explore a variety of education, strengthen the moral building evaluation system. |
