| Cooperative learning is helpful to arouse the students’ interest in learning andto improve students’ academic level. In recent years, although the researches oncooperative learning are in large quantities, the practical application of cooperativelearning to senior high school seems uncommon. The researches about cooperativelearning method in English teaching for reading and writing are still relatively rare.The current high school English teaching is faced with the urgent reform ofteaching methods, reading and writing skills of students need to be improvedfundamentally. However, it is still difficult to realize the innovation of teachingbecause of traditional education beliefs.In order to improve the language ability of students, the cooperative learningmethod is applied to English teaching for reading and writing in Lingdong SeniorHigh School guided by the relative theories. The learning card and portfolio areused in the study to optimize students’ English learning process and evaluationmethods, of which the student team-achievement divisions is adopted as the basicteaching form. The integration of reading and writing in teaching strategies isapplied with the help of suitable evaluation in the experiment research, payingattention to the learning process so as to strengthen the students’ autonomousconsciousness and the enterprising consciousness. The author aims at exploring therelationship between students’ English competence and cooperative learning model. Ensuring the reliability and validity of the experiment, the author selects twonatural classes as the experimental class and the controlling class. No significantdifference in academic level between the two classes exists. It is assumed thatthere is no correlation between cooperative learning and students’ academic level.The cooperative learning method is adopted in the experimental class whiletraditional teaching method is applied in the controlling class during theexperiment lasting half a year. The tests and the questionnaires are completedbefore and after the experiment. Through the collection and analysis of data, theauthor finds that the academic level of the experimental class is significantly betterthan that of controlling class. The experiment results prove that the originalassumption is false in turn. This reveals the new teaching model can improvestudents’ academic level obviously. The students’ language ability of English inexperimental class has been improved a lot, especially in the understanding andapplication of significant chunks, sentences, passages and discourses.This thesis discusses the English teaching pattern in senior high school, whichsets an example to English teaching. The results of this study provide first-handmaterials and new thoughts for English teaching reform in practice and theory,which contributes to in-depth analysis and reflection of current English teachingdesign. The information and data of the study can be used as important basis by theeducational administration department to guide the English teaching reform for it isthe practice of new curriculum criteria. |
