The geographical representation is the geographical things did not present situation,reproduced the image of things in the human brain. The geographical representation andgeographical object perception is different. Perception is the geographical things reflected in thehuman brain, geographical things left the people sense organ, sense will disappear. Appearanceis not, was not present in the geographical things, people can still be past perception ofgeographical reappear, even for non perception of geographical things to their existingknowledge and experience as the foundation, form indirectly self geographical representation.Representation in the mind does not exist in isolation, and almost all of the participation in theconstruction of geographic representation of cognitive structure. The appearance of the thinkingprocess, coupling relationship between all the past the concept of cognitive structure areweakened or disrupted, concept has undergone restructuring in the process of image thinking,mutual connection between the connection is new, a new cognitive structure system togetherwith a corresponding new representation system build up. In view of the crucial role ofgeographical representation in the geographical thinking in the cognitive process, teachersshould pay attention to the research and application of geographic representation of information,and will always run through the teaching of geography.In this paper, based on education, psychology and other related field theory, the applicationof geographical representation in teaching from a deeper level, case study, focuses on theinformation into the geographical representation and control students geographical representationgenerator etc.. Help students to establish a clear and correct geographic representation plays animportant role and value in geography learning, which can not only enhance the students’understanding and memory of knowledge, but also to stimulate interest in learning, make somestudents from learning geography into willing to learn geography, become the main body of theself learning. Practice has proved, the students through the geographical representation of the training, toimprove the appearance of accumulation and operation ability, the development of imagethinking, has the important guiding significance to promote the cognitive ability. In this paper,research and exploration in the geography image teaching, also has certain reference function forthe geography teachers.
