Input frequency is a major concern in the field of second language acquisition and theimportant role input plays in SLA has been widely acknowledged by linguists and languageresearchers both at home and abroad. With the development of corpus software, corpus hasbeen put into use in various fields of the foreign language research. Nowadays, corpuslanguage is also widely used in researches concerning second language learning or teaching.However, little research has been conducted on this topic–the effects of textbook inputfrequency on second language writing about senior high school students with the help ofsoftware concerning corpora.In this thesis, input vocabulary is selected from Senior New English Book1-6. Self-builtpersonal corpus is formed based on the words analyzed by Range. Using SPSS17, this thesisspecifically centers on these issues: The change of input vocabulary and second languagewriting; the relationship between words input frequency and second language writing; besidesinput frequency, any more factors affecting the efficacy of writing.Based on the research findings, the researcher comes to the conclusion that words inputfrequency has high positive correlations with second language writing. Still, there are otherfactors strongly influence the scores of writing, like the use of vocabulary or learners’attitudes towards second language learning. Meanwhile, some suggestions for Englishteaching and future study are offered.
