Since English course in primary school was started in our country in the1990s, aschool-based curriculum’s reform has also been taken all over China. But, though we havehad some achievements, because of starting late and lacking experience in the research ofschool-based curriculum, problems with the school-based curriculum have still cropped up insuccession. As to the English school-based curriculum’s reform, the research focuses more onthe school-based curriculum of university and high school than school-based curriculum ofprimary English. So, this article takes an example of school-based curriculum of primaryEnglish of Shuangyu Experimental School in Zhangzhou City to analysis school-basedcurriculum development of primary English, with the aim of offering some guidelines in thedevelopment of school-based curriculum.The paper carried out some related research of school-based curriculum through aquestionnaire survey with the students, an interview with some English teachers and Grant’sscale for the judgment. We concluded that the development of school-based curriculum canaccord to the requirements of new curriculum standard, adhere to the teaching materialwriting step by step, localization, the principle of life; But there are some places need toimprove, school-based teachers in professional development need to improve; time forschool-based reform practice is too short; school-based reform didn’t get authoritative experts’guidance; schools didn’t make a fair system in the school-based curriculum reform;school-based deployed teaching materials need to be perfected.Through the discussion of the development of school-based curriculum, it is concludedthat development of school-based curriculum should be based on the basis of the newcurriculum standard, the need of the students(its center), the characteristics of the school, andunder the condition of not increasing the burden of students, reflecting the students’ interest,that before the development of school-based curriculum, we should work out a reasonable development system, as well as the teaching goal, invite relevant experts for guidance ortrain relevant personnel of school-based curriculum development, and that after thedevelopment of school-based curriculum, we should have some leading experts or aspecialized review team evaluate the development of school-based curriculum.
