For foreign language learners, using word-to-word liaison fluently can make Englishspeaking more authentic, and make communication more unobstructed. As for native speakers,word-to-word liaison seems to be very natural and normal, but for Chinese students, Chinesepronunciation with clear articulation and mellow fully affects their English pronunciation,which making the pronunciation incoherence, so it is necessary to master a kind of effectiveapproach to learn English word-to-word liaison. The English Four-in-One Teaching Approachbrought out in the middle school English teaching creatively which combines the practice ofChinese English teaching. The English Four-in-One Teaching Approach emphasis on fourmain modes: classroom teaching, out-of-class study, daily revision and exam preparation. Itprovides an approach of learning word-to-word liaison, and it also can provide a teachingmethod of teaching English word-to-word liaison.The study makes a survey on the current word-to-word liaison learning situation in aprimary school, which indicates that primary school learners are poor in word-to-word liaisonlearning, and their knowledge about word-to-word liaison should be strengthened.30studentswere selected as participants who were going to be tested before and after the experiment.After2months experiment by using The English Four-in-One Teaching Approach, it testedthe differences between pretest and post-test to analyze the learning effect of word-to-wordliaison for primary school students. Firstly, this thesis aims to check whether The EnglishFour-in-One Teaching Approach can improve primary school learners’ level of word-to-wordliaison; Secondly, which kind of word-to-word liaison can improve fastest and best by usingThe English Four-in-One Teaching Approach; Thirdly, what is specific implementation wayof The English Four-in-One Teaching Approach?The findings shows that every kind of word-to-word liaison scores in post-test is higherthan the scores in pretest by contrasting the participants’ scores in pretest and post-test, whichcan confirm The English Four-in-One Teaching Approach can improve primary schoollearners’ level of word-to-word liaison. In the seven major kinds of word-to-word liaison,r,re-vowel improves fastest and best for the difference between pre-test and post-test is thebiggest. During the process of experiment, the control of out-of-class may have somedeviation, but not the other three: classroom teaching, daily revision and exam preparation can be controlled very well. Therefore, in the process of daily English teaching teachersshould make full use of the class in order to improve the primary school learners’ level ofword-to-word liaison.
