With the development of technology, information and communication technologies (ICT) applied in education is a tendency and pervasive. Currently, there is a contradiction between quality-oriented education and examination-oriented education in senior high school education of China. Senior English Curriculum Standard (Experimental Manuscript) in2003, which recommends explicitly in its sixth teaching principle that ICT should be used to create more channels for students to learn and practice English and enhance their learning efficiency. And on the other hand, for senior high school students they are under the pressure of College Entrance Examination, many teachers in some extent incline to use the traditional cramming teaching method, which is consistent with objectivism.The researches on teachers’teaching philosophy and their applications of ICT in classroom teaching at home and broad so far are rarely combined together. To explore the relations of senior high school English teachers’teaching philosophy and their applications of ICT in classroom teaching can not only help their self-development and to improve their teaching skills but also help to reduce the contradiction tension between quality-oriented education and examination-oriented education. This research is based on the constructivism and behaviorism theory. And200senior high school English teachers from Hunan and Guangdong province are invited to do the questionnaire, together with six of the teachers being interviewed. The research explores which teaching philosophy the teachers incline to, the situations of ICT application in English classroom teaching and whether their teaching philosophies have something to do with their applications of ICT in English classroom teaching. The reasons are being investigated as well.By the study, the author finds that there is close relations between senior high school English teachers’teaching philosophy and their applications of ICT in classroom teaching. The research result shows that teachers with constructivism teaching philosophy are more intend to apply ICT in their classroom teaching than those with objectivism teaching philosophy. They can have a better application of ICT in their classroom teaching as well. The age of teachers make something difference to their ICT applications on English classroom teaching as well. Therefore, it is extremely important to steer teachers to establish correct teaching philosophy and to provide appropriate training. By enriching their ICT related knowledge and improving their efficiency of utilizing ICT, the quality of senior high school English teaching will be greatly improved and our English teaching can get into a new era.
