The Application Of Writing Training Through The Grammatical Revision In Senior Three To The Improvement Of Grammatical Proficiency

Although the communicative English prevails at present, there are still a great number of teachers in favor of grammar teaching. These teachers use a large amount of time in class to teach and explain the grammatical rules. However, the results make them and their students disappointed. Many of their students often fail to get good marks in their grammatical exercises. The same situation is true of the author’s school. The author’s students are not good at grammar, which affects both their performance on grammatical exercises and the quality of their writing. In other words, the students’poor mastery of grammar directly results in their poor writing ability.This research aims to improve students’ grammatical proficiency by integrating writing training into the grammatical revision in Senior Three. So the main questions discussed in the paper are:Question1:Is it feasible and reasonable to integrate writing training into the grammatical revision in Senior Three?Question2:Can writing training through the grammatical revision in Senior Three effectively and efficiently help improve grammatical proficiency?There were altogether68valid participants from Senior Three in Tianjin No.102Senior High. The experimental group (EG) and the control group (CG) each had34subjects and there was no significant difference between them before the experiment. Pretest and posttest as well as two questionnaires were used to conduct the survey. The data were collected and analyzed with SPSS17.0. The results showed that it was feasible and reasonable to integrate writing training into the grammatical revision and that writing training through the grammatical revision in Senior Three could effectively and efficiently help improve grammatical proficiency.
