The new rural construction is a great project for hundreds of millions of peasants. Among them, the cultural construction is an important part of new rural construction, providing spiritual motivation and intellectual support for the construction of new countryside. Rural teachers as intellectuals, should be the most active cultural factors of rural society, to contribute their strength in the rural construction movement in nowadays with vigour and vitality. However, due to various reasons, they have huddled in the school walls, concentrate on the pursuit of test performance, and as result they reduced to a dumb group. Rural teachers to actively participate in the construction of new rural culture, is the need of rural society and the development of rural education, and also an important measure for them react to their public duty of culture and to improve themselves. At present, the professional development of teachers is generally the focus of the topic. However, it is obviously orientated on city teacher professional development. controled by the instrumental and rational value, the teachers’ professional development is deviating from essence of education. Teachers are struggling to cope with all kinds of professional tasks and targets while they also lost their nature. At the same time, the rural education has the cultural ecological environment that is different from the city of education, the way for the professional development of rural teachers should be different from that of urban teachers. Rural teachers’ development are not from the rural culture, but should be in the rural cultural construction background, conforming to the requirements of the development of the times. So they can determine their own responsibilities and targets in the new rural cultural construction, combinating the growth of their own with the of rural culture and rural education, echoes with the times and the rural culture. To participate in the construction of new rural culture, rural teachers should start from the following aspects:commit themselves to the construction of rural community, and the cultivation of community culture; Fully explore the values of rural culture, and bring them to their teaching class; take part in agricultural production, to get a better understanding for their native soil, and to open up a new way of life and development in the countryside. Besides, rural teachers should pay attention to their own life style, leading a new countryside spirit. To undertake the responsibility of the construction of new rural culture, rural teachers should constantly improve themselves, enhance their cultural literacy; be concerned with common people, and cherish a simple localism in their heart; broaden their cultural horizon,and be provided with the quality of multiculturalism; absorb nutrient from rural culture, to enhance their culture details. At the same time, rural teachers should develop their humanistic spirit and aesthetic taste, so as to raise their comprehensive cultural literacy.
