The course "Ideology and Morality Cultivation and Legal Rudiments" is an important component in colleges’ curriculum system of political and ideological theory.The course contributes to the overall improvement of the ideological and ethical and legal quality of the college students and is conducive to the development of their actual problem-solving skills in their learning, life and career.For independent colleges, the study of the actual teaching effects of the "basic" courses can be an aid to helping teachers in guiding their students to reshape their learning goals and good learning habits, to establish scientific ideal and belief, to build a solid moral and legal quality foundation for them to grow qualified and trustworthy successors of the socialist causes.The present research based on the author’s years’of actual working experiences in City Institute, Dalian University of Technolgy, adopted questionnaires to make a survey of400undergraduate participants of6majors from5teaching divisions of City Instiute, DUT.The design of the contents of the questionnaire was based on the textbooks of the "basic" courses and special knowledge points of eight issues were selected.The SPSS21.0software was employed to analyze the results. The four findings of the statistical analysis that influences the actual teaching effects of the "basic" courses are:the characteristics of the independent college students; the imbalance of the teaching tasks and the teaching goals; the singleness of the teaching methods and the teaching means; the inadequacy of recognition of the textbooks of both teachers and students.The strategies to improve the actual teaching effects of "basic" courses in independent colleges thus were put forward accordingly. First, the classroom interaction between the teachers and the students should be enhanced. Second, the social practice should be more target-based. Third, the overall quality and professional skills of the teaching staff should be improved. The purpose of the enhancing the actual teaching effects of "basic" courses in independent colleges was concluded and elaborated. The internalization of the learning of theories by the college students can be represented externally in their proper college life management, dealing with the social problems rationally and effective solution of difficulties in life, etc.
