The Relationship Of Parental Rearing Pattern, Self-esteem And Career Decision-making Self-efficacy Of College Students

Career choice is really important for college students, however, currently it isindisputable that China’s employment situation remains grim and low employment is a great ehidden threat to China’s social stability and social harmony. Research on how to ease the issueof low employment of graduates becomes a hot spot soon, among which the related researchon self-efficacy of college students is one of the important research directions.This study adopts random sampling method, and379college students from28provinces,municipalities and autonomous regions were surveyed as the object of study by questionnaireon the internet. With "Self-Esteem Scale”,“Parenting Pattern Scale”,“Career DecisionMaking Self-efficacy Scale "as research tools, this research explores the relationships ofcollege students’ self-esteem, parental rearing pattern and career decision-makingself-efficacy.This research shows the followings:(1) The overall level of self-esteem and career decision-making self-efficacy of collegestudents is high.(2)The students’ decision-making self-efficacy is significantly different in major andeducation degree of parents, but the difference in gender, only-child or not,whether acceptingthe career counseling or not, and native place is not significant. The students’ self-esteem issignificantly different in gender and native place, but there is no significantly differenceamong professional, whether only-child or not, parental occupation; Parental rearing style issignificantly different in gender, whether one-child or not, and native place.(3) Parental rearing pattern is significantly positive correlated with self-esteem. There isalso a significant positive correlation between self-esteem and career decision-makingself-efficacy; and parental rearing pattern is significantly positively related with self-esteemlevel.(4)Parental rearing pattern and self-esteem can be used to predict career decision-makingof college students.(5)Both parental rearing pattern and self-esteem can affect college students’ careerdecision-making self-efficacy, and self-esteem plays an intermediating role between parentalrearing Pattern and career decision-making self-efficacy.
