Building a harmonious socialist society is the strategic task and goal that was proposed bythe Central Party committee. It is also a strategic mission that closely related with the success ofbuilding socialism with Chinese characteristics. Being considered as a new concept in education,harmonious campus was proposed after “Harmonious Society”. As an important part of theeducational organization, colleges’ strategic status keeps rising in the national survival anddevelopment. Therefore, they should assume the responsibility of building a harmonious society.College teachers and administrative staff are two basic constituent groups in modern colleges anduniversities. They co-determine significant issues such as a college’s goal of development,distribution of resources, and academic programs. Having a harmonious relationship betweenthem could be of great significance in creating a good atmosphere of educational management,arousing the enthusiasm of teaching and administrative staff, achieving the goal within unity, andpromoting the social knowledge innovation and scientific and technological progress.The study uses various methods, such as literature analysis, survey research, andmultidisciplinary analysis to summarize the intellectual sequence. According to the results fromthe analysis, it reveals that the relationship between college teachers and administrative staffcould be either intimate or disharmonious. A great majority of the disharmonious relationship areof concealment. The way which was used in solving problems of the relationship betweencollege teachers and administrative staff is of integration.On the basis of survey research and interviews, the author makes analysis on the reasonswhy there is disharmonious relation between college teachers and administrative staff. They relyon each other whereas there is dispute between them. From the objective point of view, thedeficiency of internal system and mechanism in the college and the negative impact of theofficialism from our society lead to the disharmony. From the subjective point of view, thedifferences on career experience and value orientation between college teachers andadministrative staff are the immediate causes that led to the disharmony.In order to adjust the disharmonious relationship between college teachers andadministrative staff, meanwhile make colleges and universities play their biggest role of fosteringtalents, the author offers five suggestions: First, we should strengthen the construction ofpolitical culture in colleges and universities. Second, we should clarify their own roles andstraighten their professional attitudes of college teachers and administrative staff. Third, weshould allocate and use the power of academy and administration in a reasonable way. Fourth,we should master a scientific and artistic way in communication. Finally, we should consciouslyabide by the professional ethics.
