In the recent year, many media sources have reported on atrocious acts of violenceoccurring throughout educational institutions. These acts revolve around love, marriageand cheating. As these acts have become more and more common, society as a wholehas began to pay attention as to the possible reasons for such acts. These atrocities notonly occur in the mainland but also in the province of Taiwan. While the public hasstarted to care about this social issue, there has yet been any mention or comparisontowards the opinions about love, sex and marriage between mainland and Taiwanesestudents. This thesis attempts to define the attitudes toward love, sex and marriage fromtwo different regions (Xi’an v. Taipei) with its two different cultural perspectives. Inaddition I also search for possible logic for these acts of violence. My reasons forchoosing this topic are to analyze the causes of these acts, provide possible solutions forthem and in addition attempting to provide a progressive attitude in dealing withrelationships on a socially acceptable plain for the future. The methods used in gathering data for this thesis include; previous works writtenby others, surveys, cases from individuals whom were interviewed and onlinedocumentation. The data obtained was used as reference to compare and analyze as awhole. The questionnaire consisted of980participants. The survey involved a total of61questions and three parts. In sum, the data gathered was largely based on the dataobtained throughout the extensive questionnaire. The software used to process the largesums of data was SPSS13.0. In addition several statistical methods like factor analysis, project analysis and correlation analysis were used to defragment the raw data usedwithin this thesis. The survey results show that there are significant differences between collegestudents in Taipei and Xi’an. College students in Taipei deal with questions like, college student relationship attitudes regarding love, dependency on themselves, homosexualityand attitudes towards sex got higher score. And college students in Xi’an towardsquestions like marriage, responsibilities within a marriage, roles in a marriage, loyaltywhen married got more scores. And students in Taipei thought social effect, schooleffect and personalities may influence someone’s attitude toward love, sex and marriage.Even seperated to compared college students in Xi’an and Taipei college students stillhas big difference. At last this survey tried to find a way to improve students’attitudethrough social, school, family and personalities.
