Among the existing cultures in the world, the culture of Chinese nation is the oldest and most long-lived, as our architectures are.Where there is a university, there is a cultural existence. Meanwhile, in the history, each university culture also has its own architecture, which is always accompanied by university culture. As a product of university culture, university architecture is not only an objective existence of material, but also a spiritual or cultural existence. Moreover, it carries the architecture culture of university generations and the efforts of architects, reflects the university-running idea and spiritual taste and records the university development history. Typical campus architecture of university looks like vibrating poem, flowing song, floating drawing. In order to get the education aim of university, it is in the culture form, non-mandatory education means to create a good environment and atmosphere to influence and educate many students. Its unique cultural atmosphere influences and teaches the students and teachers who live in it, to influence the educational effect. So it is very necessary and important to know and value the architectural culture of university. Without the architectural culture consciousness the university will be lack of architectural creative passion and the necessary cultural atmosphere to educate students in university, so it is inevitable on the recession of university architectures and even the university.This paper discusses the university architectural culture, covers all aspects of the architectural culture. It not only includes the culture carried by the main body of university architectures, such as teaching building, office building, library, etc. but also the culture penetrated by the university outbuildings, such as sculpture, inscription, pavilions, halls, etc. The study first limits the basic structure content of the university architecture culture, then discusses its main character, namely pluralism character, introduces its four functions, combs several problems existing in its development process and put forward to suggestions related. The paper aims at promoting excellent culture of university architectures, upgrading environment atmosphere of university humanistic quality, strengthening cultural self-confidence of university person and founding the human environment basis for construction and development of university. At the same time, it also aims at inheriting the university architecture culture, which with a long history and cultural features, improving the influence and the propagation power of university architecture culture, showing people the lasting appeal of university architecture culture.
