The Ethical Examination Of The Contemporary College Students’ Cost For Their Love Relationships

Going through a special period of life and living in a specific environment, college students have a limited understanding towards our society, thus with the influence of our society they tends to form certain wrong attitude towards the consumption in love affairs. Based on the questionnaires and interviews, this essay investigates and analyses the state of college students’ consumption for love affairs, and then from the ethic point of view pushes it further to analyze the problems of their consumption in love affairs and tries to find possible solutions to help and guide them set reasonable views on their consumption for love affairs.In the first chapter of the essay, the author defines the concept related to consumption and cost for love relationships, and points out that whether love or consumption is a kind of social activity as well as the reflection of human being’s social attribute. And to lay a theory foundation for this essay, the author also elaborates on the theory in the area of love and consumption from scholars of ancient and modern Chinese as well as foreign countries. At the end of this chapter, the author analyses the inner connection between our views on consumption for love affairs and our values.Based on the questionnaires and interviews, the second part concludes the present situation of college students’cost for their love relationships, mainly from three aspects-the source, use and their views on consumption for love affairs. And from this conclusion, the author then analyses its existing problems:first, excessive pursuit for romance, leading to consumerism in cost for love relationships; second, the over-emphasis on sensual pleasures, generating hedonism thought in cost for love relationships;Third, blind value on the "face", provoking the vanity swelling; Fourth, the over-prominence of individual rights, resulting in the lack of moral responsibility.The final part of the article discusses the possible ways to help college students develop proper views on consumption for love affairs, thus forming appropriate values. The article points out that to develop proper views on consumption for love affairs, college students must stick to certain principle like harmonious consumption, moderate consumption and self-independent consumption. At the end of the article, the author points out that to develop proper views on consumption for love affairs, college students must combine self-discipline and heteronomy, and discusses the possible ways of developing certain views from the perspectives of school, family, society and college students themselves. This article come to the conclusion that to help college student develop proper view on consumption for love affairs, colleges and universities should strengthen the certain cultivation, family members should sharpening their guidance, society should advocate harmonious consumption culture and college students themselves should improve their self-cultivation.
