Based on revision of the shame questionnaire of graduate students, we used questionnaire method and IAT to investigate the development and characteristics of Chinese graduate students’ shame. This research includes three parts:revision of shame questionnaire, study on the development of explicit shame and the implicit shame.Study1revises the shame questionnaire, and finally gets the shame questionnaire of Chinese graduate students. The questionnaire has good reliability and validity.Study2discusses the development of shame. The results show that:(1) The shame of graduate students is at medium level. Type1is the highest, followed by Type2, Type4is the lowest.(2) Females are significantly higher than males on the whole scale, Type1, Type2, Type5, Type6, Type7, and Type8.(3) Graduate students of liberal arts are significantly higher than science and technology on Type5.(4) Second-year graduate students are significantly higher than the first and third on the whole scale, Type7and Type8.Study3explores the implicit shame. We use shame questionnaire and IAT tests to investigate the explicit shame, implicit shame and the relationships between them. The results show that:(1) The shame of the graduate students has implicit tendency.(2) There is no significant difference on implicit shame between females and males.(3) Different groups have no significant difference on implicit shame.The above researches show that:1. The explicit shame of females is significantly higher than males, but implicit shame has no significant difference between females and males.2. The shame of graduate students includes two types, the implicit shame and explicit shame.
