Scientific inquiry is a significant component of learning contents involved in Physics curriculum. As to Physics in middle school, scientific inquiry is diverse in terms of forms, complete with experimental inquiry teaching in class, experimental exploration activities in extra-curricular, social investigation activities and so forth. This thesis researches experimental inquiry teaching in class.With students under the guidance of the teacher, experimental inquiry teaching, which adopts the approach of experiments and employs the research method which is analogous to the one utilized by scientists to carry out the experimental inquiry, is aimed at acquiring knowledge, developing abilities, and forming the appropriate scientific attitudes as well as values. Teaching strategies are the methods and measures that are adopted by the teacher, for the purpose of achieving the teaching objectives at the highest efficiency. Teaching strategies feather comprehensiveness, pertinency, operatability, flexibility, arrangement of ideas. That the teaching strategy can be put into use properly in class is the prerequisite to elevate the teaching efficiency of experimental inquiry in middle school Physics class.This study, by the methods of observation and interview, identifies students’ideas about experimental inquiry, define difficulties the middle school students meet in each procedure of experimental inquiry teaching; by way of students’feedbacks, teachers are motivated to reflect whether it is proper to utilize some strategies; according to interviews with teachers, this study can learn about difficulties that teachers confront in the process of carrying out the experimental inquiry teaching. Combining the teaching strategies and the theories of experimental inquiry, this study specifically puts forward some teaching strategies to deal with the relevant problems, and improves such teaching strategies further by means of the experiment practice.This study constructs a series of feasible and concrete teaching strategies on the basis of the respective characteristic of seven components involved in experimental inquiry teaching, which is made up of putting forward issue, supposition and assumption, experimental design, experiment, analysis of the demonstration, evaluation, cooperation and exchange. Those teaching strategies can be described as follows:strategies for arousing interests, strategies for evoking needs, strategies for promoting student-based participation, brainstorming, strategies of scaffolding for students by designing questions elaborately, strategies of clearing frequently-used scientific research method, strategies of imparting the commonly-used train of thought in designing experiments to students, and so forth.The research into the experimental inquiry teaching strategies in middle school physics can provide reference about teaching strategies for the middle school educators and can be used to guide teaching practice, help teachers to better understand the experimental inquiry teaching and implement effectually the three dimension goals about the new curriculum standard.
